2010 Traditional Four Day SessionsRegistration for Field School will begin on Tuesday, March 16 at 9:00 a.m. Please register early to reserve a spot for your child, as sessions fill up very quickly. Fees are due on the first day of class. Be sure to notify us in case of cancellation to make space available for others. Call 810-796-3200 to register. Pee Wees and Parents (age 2 – 4 in company of an adult) Pee Wees enjoy a gentle introduction to nature with activities and short walks. Suggestions for adults to use with children are also included. Fee for adult and child: $28.00 (members $24.00)
Wee Walkers (preschoolers at least 4 years old) Wee Walkers take leisurely walks and discover nature in the company of a naturalist. Fee: $28.00 (members $24.00)
Young Explorers (for children who have completed kindergarten) This field school focuses on using the senses to explore nature. Lots of walks, activities, and crafts included. Fee: $32.00 (members $28.00)
Field School 1 & 2 (for children completing grades 1 or 2) We will learn about living things and the groups they are in using hands-on activities, games, crafts and walks. Fee: $36.00 (members $32.00)
Field School 3 & 4 (for children completing grades 3 or 4) We will explore plant and animal habitats and some of the special features (adaptations) that plants and animals use to survive. Fee: $42.00 (members $38.00)
Junior Naturalists Students will discover the wonders of nature at night. Activities will show how plants and animals have very special features that help them to survive the dark. Thursday’s session will run from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fee: $46.00 (members $42.00) Grades 5 and 6:
2010 Field School SpecialsBeginning Birdwatching(For children grades 5 – 7) Children will explore the center’s habitats in search of birds, learning about binoculars, field guides, checklists, lifelists, and bird identification by sight, sound, and behavior. Limit 5 students. Fee: $24.00 (members $22.00)
Bugology (For children grades 5 – 7) Students will explore the amazing world of insects. We will investigate bugs we find in the pond, forest and fields. Fee: $12.00 (members $10.00)
Animal Care Spend time learning how Seven Ponds takes care of its’ indoor animals and how we attract wild animals to our feeding stations. This will be your chance to help clean, feed, and handle our special animals. Fee: $6.00 (members $5.00) Grades 2 – 4 Session I
Botany in a Day (For children grades 5 – 7) This class is for all the “budding” botanists to explore the plant life at the nature center. We will learn about many different species of plants and how to identify them. Fee: $12.00 (members $10.00).
CSI – Nature Style We will get clues, solve mysteries, complete puzzles, and enjoy other exciting nature competitions. Fee: $6.00 (members $5.00). Grades 4 – 6 Session II
Eggs-cellent Adventure We will enjoy learning about nests and eggs by touring our special collection. We will do an “eggs”- periment and go for a walk to find different bird nests. Parents are welcome to participate. Fee: $6.00 per person (members $5.00). Grades 2 – 4 Session I
Nature Games We will play some of your favorite nature games and learn some new ones! Bring a water bottle, sturdy shoes, sun protection, and a snack. Parents are welcome to participate. Fee: $6.00 per person (members $5.00). Grades 1 – 3 Session I
